Once you know the chosen destination of your trip

If you travel to a country where you require a visa and some vaccine
Ask for your visa well in advance if any problem arises, and they do not give it to you at the moment, or you have to return to the embassy or consulate.
The same with vaccines, just in case you had any reaction or side effect, and it is not going to be that later you cannot travel.
Check your passport or identity card.
We know it will seem obvious to you, but check that it is not expired and be careful as some countries require that the trip be made when the passport is valid for at least six months before the expiration date.
Look at the weather forecast.
It may also seem like a tip for your straightforward trip, but to think that, because it is summer, it will not be cold or take, for example, that in London it always rains… lest you later have to run to buy clothes for not having looked before what time is going to do in the destination.
Call or email the accommodation where you are going to stay.
Nowadays, everything is done online, sometimes weeks or months in advance. Unfortunately, some travel websites are not entirely reliable. So, to avoid disappointment and anger later, contact the accommodation booked days before traveling.
Do not trust that the email sent to you tells you that everything is confirmed. Any problem may arise with the reservation, the accommodation has canceled it, and you have not been informed.
If you need any assistance at the airport or on the flight
You must contact the airline at least 48 hours before the plane leaves, whether you need any extraordinary food, reduced mobility, etc.

To avoid running out of any clothes if you lose your suitcase and travel with someone else, or you also carry hand luggage, it is a good idea to distribute the clothes among all the bags, since this way, you will always have something to do wear.
